Class 62-A Web Site Guestbook

Just browsing the web to check on OCS information. I was in Class 57A, 1st Squadron (Commander). I retired on 1 March 1985 with 37 years, 3 months, and 28 days of
military service. It all started on 3 November 1947 when
I was 16 years old. I enlisted in the Tennessee Army National Guard and then dropped out of high school and enlisted in the USAF on 1 December 1948. I was a T/Sgt when I was selected for OCS. After being commissioned, I completed Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, Air War College, and Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Also, while on active duty, I completed high school GED, college GED, BS Electrical Engineering, BS Business Administration and MS Business Management. I would like to hear from our OC friends.
Cheers, John.

Correction to the preceeding msg; It was James B. Yocum who was on the C-47 Gunship, not Dwight Yocum.

Was wondering if you folks know the history of two of your members, Dwight Yocum, deceased, and Art Cormier who washed out of 2nd Sq. I understand that Cormier became a pararescue type and got captured in NVN. Survived to come home and gain a commission via colleg/OTS. Yocum was in a C-47 gunship that was shot down, but survived. Vietcong came into the downed acft. but he stayed still and they left assuming him dead. I would like to hear more of both their exploits.

What a thrill to find this website and read about my father Dale Shatz. I was very young in 62 and Dale was just Daddy. Now I see the man!

Those cryptic comments on Aug 9th, 2008, are obviously from some kid and need to be deleted. Otherwise, Sandi & I are both OK and enduring the winter weather here in San Antonio.
